Headed to cheer camp? Here’s our cheer camp checklist.

Are you ready to make some memories, learn new skills, and bond with your team all while prepping for game day? There is so much to love with summer cheer camp, and luckily it’s right around the corner. Cheer camp sets the tone for the entire year to come. Veteran cheerleaders know what to expect, but for first year cheerleaders, it can be intimidating. We have compiled our list of top five things to pack for a smooth experience. No matter how long you’ve been cheering, use this list before you head off on the bus.

1) Comfortable, supportive shoes are a must.

Comfortable, supportive shoes are a must. From all the running around to learning routines, good shoes are essential to your busy cheer camp days. Keep the following in mind – are you a flyer or a tumbler and need a lightweight shoe or do you participate in sideline cheer and need a shoe for any weather? And you can customize some shoes with your team’s colors. Shoes are vital to a fun cheer camp.

2) Tees and shorts

Tees and shorts are items on the list you probably won’t forget, but remember they can bring spirit and fun to an already winning personality. Mix it up with tanks or tie-dyes. One-day or multi-day campwear packages are available, making choosing clothes in the morning a cinch. Movement is key when learning new choreography at camp, so make sure your clothes are comfortable and the right size.

3) The bigger the bow, the fiercer the spirit!

Wacky bows are the final, fashionable touch to a cheerleader’s outfit. Whether customized, extra large or making a statement, fun bows are on trend and are another essential item to add to your suitcase. For you last-minute packers, some bows are available for quick ship to finish off your packing list.

4) Sunscreen

This may not seem obvious, but sunscreen is a priority. Cheer camp is not all inside a gym. Run by your local drugstore before you go and stock up on sunblock with aloe vera and an SPF of at least 15. No one wants a sunburn to ruin your time at cheer camp. Also grab some lip balm, bug spray and a notebook – items you might need once you get to camp.

5) And last but certainly not least…

And last but certainly not least – don’t forget your good attitude! Cheerleading is all about heart and spirit. Friendships and memories made at camp can last a lifetime. While cheer camp can be intense and serious, bring your A-game, and camp will be everything you hoped for and more.
